Sept. 13, 2016 | Coaches and parents in New England are taking the lead in teaching safe, effective body-checking. One indication is the proliferation of body-checking clinics in the region, led by local hockey associations, college coaches and players, and representatives from USA Hockey. A recent clinic, held Sept. 7 in Waltham, Massachusetts, included a pair of Bentley College Falcons – Drew Callin and Jake Ahlgren – working with 55 12U players, 12 Waltham coaches and USA Hockey’s Roger Grillo.
