20 teams earn titles at USA Hockey/Labatt Blue Pond Hockey Championships

EAGLE RIVER, Wis. — The 14th annual Labatt Blue/USA Hockey Pond Hockey National Championships wrapped up on Sunday afternoon with 20 teams heading home with championship trophies in tow.

The three-day event held on Dollar Lake tucked away in the Northwoods of Wisconsin was once again a huge success as 280 teams and nearly 2,000 players came together for a celebration of hockey in its purest form.

The pond hockey tournament is still USA Hockey’s largest event each year, with much of its success attributed to the partnership between USA Hockey staff, the organization’s Adult Council, led by Don Mulder, and the town of Eagle River, which supplies more than 200 volunteers to ensure that every participant has a great time.

"Thanks to our gracious hosts in Eagle River and our friends at Labatt Blue for their continued support each year, this past weekend was another incredible experience for everyone involved," said Katie Holmgren, USA Hockey director of program services and tournament director. "This event keeps getting better and better each year, and we are looking forward to celebrating the 15th anniversary next year in Eagle River."
